Overview
What started as the Los Angeles Open in 1926, the Northern Trust Open has become one of the longest-running tournaments on the PGA TOUR. During its long and storied history, the tournament was held at various courses throughout the Los Angeles area before permanently settling at Riviera Country Club in 1973. Since it's inception, the tournament has raised over $50 million for Los Angeles charities, including over $1.5 million in 2010.
As the first event on the PGA Tour's West Coast Swing, the tournament attracts many of the best players in the world to the Los Angeles area each year. The 2011 Northern Trust Open field combined for 28 major championships and 388 PGA Tour victories.
